Moments before the the end of the first half, Arizona's Aeneas Williams delivered a crunching blow to Young that left Young apparently unconscious for a short time on the field. The Niner's QB eventually walked off under his own power after a few minutes but Mariucci decided that it was in Young's best interest for the 38-year-old QB to sit out the rest of the game.
"After conferring with the doctors, I decided he would not participate in the second half," Mariucci said. "He feels like he could have played this game. But I was on the conservative side, made a decision to keep him out."
So ended Week 3 for Larry's Losers as the still undefeated Hungover Lame-Os won by the slim margin of 39-37. Better luck next week Dad.
In other games, Los Federales remained one of two winless teams as they went down to defeat by another fairly slim margin of 67-61 to Jolene's Arran Boys. The Boys used 4 two-digit days from Curtis Martin, Marvin Harrison, Ryan Longwell, and the Oakland D-ST on their way to their second win of the season.
Defending OFFL champs Freshman Fantasies #19 (formally known as The Hanson Brothers - Isaac, Taylor, & Zach) brought the hammer down on Hammertime, 67-33. Despite getting 16 points from the Baltimore D-ST, Hammertime could get little else from the rest of the team. Meanwhile FF#19 used 18 from San Fran's D-ST and 14 from St. Louis's Marshall Faulk in the victory.
In the biggest lopsided victory of the young season, Ottoman's Empire doubled-up (and then some) on Bozo's Bruisers, 83-40. Despite getting a big 20-point performance from Indianapolis' Peyton Manning, who threw for over 400 yards and 3 TDs, the Bruisers could not overcome bigger days from the Washington's Stephen Davis, who had 3 rushing TDs en route to a 22-point day, and the Seattle D-ST, which put up an amazing 24 big ones for Ottoman's Empire. A more crushing defeat may not be witnessed this year.
